Welcome Ceremony Speech For Roosevelt High School

Good morning , everyone

How’s it going in your school life?

Pretty good. Not bad. That’s good.

Maybe I think that you have enjoyed yourselves in your school life.

Today is a marvelous day for us all. This is because we are going to hold Welcome Ceremony for Roosevelt high school in the United States of America. Everyone from America, Welcome to Japan, Osaka, our school Kinnki University Sensyu High School. We are delighted to welcome you who have gathered with us today.

Now I’m little nervous but very happy, so excited and also honored to have the opportunity of making a speech in front of you.

On behalf of our school, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all of you for your visiting our school. We all have been looking forward to seeing you for a long time.

Let me introduce myself to you briefly. My name is Yoshihiro Horikawa.  I am a principal of our school. Last year, I became a principal of our school. I am almost a new face, but I do understand and realize that this exchange program is very important for the relationship between your school and our school. I do hope that we will build up the relationship with your school.

By the way, now is a global age and we are heading for diversity where everyone is respected and judged by the content of our character as a one person in the world. Today’s children are being educated for a world very different from ours. It is a world where global understanding and technological competence will be expected. As you know, recently our world situation is dramatically changing. Information communication technologies have been far advanced, and we can communicate beyond boarders wherever we are.

So, in this situation, I believe that it’s very important and essential for you to understand and realize what a global standard is and to develop a global mind, interacting with other people in foreign countries. In order to acquire a cosmopolitan way of thinking, you should go overseas, study abroad, have much experience in foreign countries.

Some of you are very nervous and excited in different environment, such as languages, cultures and a way of life. However, once you get used to them, I’m sure that you will learn and understand the differences. Soon you will discover the similarities in the different world.

Anyway, I do hope you will enjoy yourselves in Japanese life and also homestay life.
